OUR HISTORY
The story of Bright Smiles Pet Dental is deeply personal to me.
It all started with my beloved dog, Mindy. In December 2023, Mindy was 12 years old, and like many senior dogs, she began to face some oral health challenges. One of her molars broke, and the injury caused her significant pain. We took her to a trusted fellow veterinarian, where blood tests came back perfect, and she appeared to be in good health overall.
Based on the results, and after careful consideration, I agreed to move forward with the tooth extraction, believing Mindy was an ideal candidate for the procedure. Despite everything seeming perfect, and being in the hands of skilled professionals, Mindy tragically passed away while under anesthesia.
This experience hit me hard, and it opened my eyes to the inherent risks that anesthesia carries—even for otherwise healthy dogs, even in the best veterinary hands.
While there are certainly situations where anesthesia is absolutely necessary, such as extractions or surgical procedures, I realized that for most pets with early-stage or moderate periodontal disease, there’s no need to put them through such risks for something as routine as a dental cleaning.
In honor of Mindy, I decided to start Bright Smiles Pet Dental, with the mission of offering a safer, stress-free, and non-anesthetic alternative for pet dental care. My goal is to help prevent periodontal disease before it becomes a serious health issue, while avoiding the need for anesthesia whenever possible.
While anesthesia is essential for some cases, like extractions , aggressive pets or more complex procedures, there’s no need to expose our pets to unnecessary risks for routine dental care.
I want to educate pet owners about the importance of oral health, and how prevention is the best way to protect our pets from serious, costly dental and health issues down the line.
Now, I’m proud to bring my passion for preventive care and my years of veterinary experience to you and your furry friends. At Bright Smiles Pet Dental, we’re here to help keep your dog’s teeth healthy without the need for anesthesia—giving you peace of mind while supporting your pet’s long-term well-being.
